She didn’t even jump at his groan, it was all commonplace for her,  “See now if I gave you some warnin’ then you’d know its coming and tease up you were relaxed when I popped it back in. Goes in cleaner.”, she’d done this before so many times in the old days — popped things back in for people. It showed through clearly, where medical teams would tell you wants coming she’d just do it. She knew what needed to be done and would do it, as long as it wasn’t going to hurt the person for a longer period of time. A number of trainers were afraid of messing with Sami’s shoulder after his surgery, but it didn’t seem to bother her.

The next item of business was his back, she gave a small shake of her head he was making a big deal of it. “I used to superglue sh-things”, she’d been warned to watch her language when doing the medical part of her job, “like this together.” Gloved fingertips touching around the wound, “It’s not bad.” She told him, gathering items to clean the wound, “I don’t know if we should stitch, the back is so weird. You don’t know until you hurt it how much it’s involved in everything. “We can stitch it or we can just butterfly bandage it. My personal opinion is that we just bandage it — I’m more afraid of what a stitch getting pulled would do.” She paused her hands no longer poking at him, “You’re welcome and you don’t need to thank me. I’m just glad you didn’t decide to put your own shoulder back in.”

Sami sat as still as he could and kept the fidgeting to a minimum–which, strangely, was easier than he expected. He had expected it to sting, as it usually did when someone touched his wounds. He could take the pain of course–there was no such thing as a wrestler who could not take pain–even more so in the heat of battle. It was just that aftercare always seemed to hurt more, perhaps due to the absence of adrenaline that pumped through his veins in a fight. In any case, her hands were really gentle and he barely felt a thing.

With a shrug, he turned in his seat to face her.    “Ah, I think we should just bandage it.”    He nodded, not wanting to take the risk of what might happen if the stitching goes wrong.     “Better safe than sorry, right?”     He huffed in annoyance at her words, though his grin remained in place–a sign that he was not really annoyed. Lifting a hand to rub at the shoulder that just got popped in, he shot her a hopeful gaze.    “So…I’ll be fine? I’m not gonna have too much on me when we’re done?”     Sami was not the vain type, but he really did not want to walk around looking like a mummy.
