He laughed and she wasn’t sure whether to take it as a good thing or not with her mind still circling with no end in sight. But before she could question it, he had done just what she asked. His soft words brought her babbling to a halt and Sami tugged her closer. It was a familiar position with her head tucked under his chin — she could hear each beat of his heart as it slowed with her own. They had stepped into something comfortable for them both…and yet it still felt different. Becky could feel the goosebumps that rose on her skin each time he passed his hand over her back. Somehow Sami brought her so much ease yet she was beyond aware of every shift in their bodies at the same time. At his words and the faint brush of his lips against her hair, Becky inhaled deep through her nose and held it for a moment before it came out in a breath of a laugh. “ Adorable? Bleedin’ idiot? I t’ink either is fittin’…  she murmured, knowing they’d need to pull apart eventually but not quite ready. Already she could feel the uneasiness building in her and she didn’t want it to ruin this; Sami wouldn’t hurt her, not like everyone else had. “ I like you Sami. It’s what I was tryin’ to say in all that nonsense, in case ya missed it…

Another small laugh,  something strong enough to conceal the veritable anxiety strung across his ribcage like a clothesline. He who has faced death at every corner, who has beaten up by men twice his size, endured broken bones and aching bruises on his body         he fears rejection from the woman he had a crush on, but it proved to be silly because she felt the same way which surprised him and made his heart beat a little faster.      “Yeah, I got the message.”      Sami had never anticipated his romance with Becky Lynch, nor did he predict how fiercely he’d fall for her. everything about the woman had always been unexpected and fresh and he simply couldn’t get enough of this fantastic reality. They met in developmental, which led to an invaluable friendship — he was a gentleman about it, inviting her to lunch, spending hours at her side just talking about the things that mattered most. Feelings began to establish along the way, and now they were here, expressing them openly, albeit nervously. “And don’t beat yourself up. I’m not the brightest bulb in the box either.”      he laughed again before kissing another kiss to her hairline, trying his best to ease both of their nerves with lighthearted statements and the warmth of the embrace.      “So…does this mean that the almighty lass kicker is my girlfriend now…?”
